Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita (1886 – 1968)
He was a Japanese–French painter. After having studied Western-style painting in Japan, Moving to Paris in 1913, he encountered the international modern art scene of the Montparnasse and developed an eclectic style that borrowed from both Japanese and European artistic traditions.
His eclectic subjects included everything from self-portraits to Parisian café scenes, nudes, and cats. Converting to Catholicism later in life, his work took a spiritual turn, culminating in his design of the Foujita Chapel in Reims.
